How long does spam review take? Or should I repost?

Hi,

On Sunday Aug 25 I created a post with the title " I have to go..." and shutdown at boot only". After having edited it a few times, it was suddenly marked as spam (it wasn't actually spam, I promise).

Since I've been waiting for it to be reviewed. Should I sit back and be patient, or should I create a new post? If I am to wait, can I kindly ask how long, approximately? (I know this forum is likely staffed by volunteers...)

I don't want to link to the post, in case this new post also gets marked as spam, but i have the link, and when I visit it, it says:

Oops! That page doesn’t exist or is private.

So even I can't see the source of the original post myself any more. And would have to recreate it from scratch. I would like to suggest that even if a post gets marked as spam, the original author should have access to it somehow, so they have a chance to cut'n'paste and create a new post. Not have one's post suddenly vanish completely.

Peter

P.S. The ping tag is bogus, but I was required to enter at least one tag and none of the others fit either.

I don't think mods are reviewing these posts. :frowning:
In my Can Traefik handle DevOps Server? - #2 by mbender thread I've provided detailed logs when requested, and that got flagged as spam... and it's not been reviewed since.

It's probably best to try and rewrite your question / post in a manner that won't (hopefully) trigger the spam detectors...

Maybe @zespri or @cakiwi can help?

It is fine for me this time. I'll write another post. I would suggest two things though:

The message I got says:

Our automated spam filter, Akismet, has temporarily hidden your post...

A staff member will review your post soon, and it should appear shortly.

  • Could that be reworded indicating a permanent state of spammyness?
  • Could posters get access to the original post source? Or send the post source to the author via email? So we can cut'n'paste from it when reposting. Especially in light of there being false positives...

Or are such requests better directed at the discourse akismet plugin?

(And never mind this time - but for the future?)
